The ever-mysterious Richard D. James might be trying to send a message to his fans. NME reports that a blimp decorated in the Aphex Twin logo has appeared fling over London.
The blimp features the digits 2014 with the Aphex Twin logo appearing inside the '0.' It was sighted hovering above the Oval Space in Hackney earlier today.
What is James up to? Well, he hasn't released a proper album since Drukqs in 2001 but he told FactMag back in 2010 that he had completed six albums and had "loads of tracks which don't belong anywhere".
"Two are very non-commercial, abstract, modular-synthesis, field recordings - those I finished four years ago. Another one is 'Melodies From Mars', which I redid about three years ago," said James.
He added: "There's one of stuff I won't go into; a comp of old tracks. Which is never really finished and always changing; and then one I'm working on now. There are also loads of tracks which don't belong anywhere."
Does this mean that a proper release of it will be coming?
Earlier this year, a Kickstarter campaign was launched where fans pooled money together to collectively own a copy of Caustic Window, a rare Aphex Twin album that never went beyond test pressing. The contributors all received a digital copy of the rare album, and the physical copy was sold at an action for $45,072 (£27,000).
Head over to NME to check out a photo of the blimp, and let us know what you think in the comments section!
