Nick Carter is facing a damaging lawsuit amid struggles with grief after Aaron Carter's death.
A press conference on Facebook by Carter's alleged victim and her lawyers revealed the Backstreet Boys member's purported crime in 2001. The woman, named Shannon "Shay" Ruth, got emotional as she recollected the reported event during which the singer sexually assaulted her.
According to the now-39-year-old woman, she was just 17 years old when Carter did something to her. She added that she was diagnosed with autism before the incident occurred.
"The last 21 years have been filled with pain, confusion, frustration, shame and self-harm that are a direct result of Nick Carter raping me. Even though I'm autistic and live with cerebral palsy, I believe that nothing has affected me more or had a more lasting impact on my life than what Nick Carter did and said to me," she continuously said, as quoted by Page Six.
She claimed that she attended the Backstreet Boys' concert in Tacoma in 2001 when she was invited to Carter's tour bus. The singer allegedly offered her a red-colored drink which he called VIP juice despite knowing that she was underage.
Per the victim, she now thinks it was alcohol and cranberry juice. He reportedly ordered her to perform a lascivious act on him while she cried due to extreme fear. Carter purportedly took her to a bed inside the bus, where he allegedly continued to sexually assault her.
Ruth alleged that Carter called her a "re***ed b***h" after assaulting her. He reportedly grabbed her tightly and left bruises on her arm.
While her claims led to queries about why she only spoke about it now, the victim further explained that Carter scared her and threatened to silence her. She also disclosed how hesitant she felt to speak out because she believed she could be jailed if she told everyone about it.
But after bottling her feelings inside her, Ruth reportedly realized that revealing her story would prevent Carter from assaulting more teens and women. She also wanted him to be held accountable for what he did despite having celebrity status.
Nick Carter Reportedly Assaulted More Women
Elsewhere in the press conference, Ruth's attorney, Mark J. Boskovich, divulged that there are three other women whose names are included in the joint lawsuit.
The lawyer claimed that the "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely" hitmaker has a long history of abusing women and that the music industry has always "looked away."
Despite that, Boskovich revealed how determined his client is to bring justice and protect other women.
Through the lawsuit, Ruth is seeking monetary damages, especially since she contracted HPV after the incident.
Carter has not responded to the claims yet.
