During the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, everyone was stuck in their respective homes and switched to everything virtual and online. With people now having more time for themselves, people resorted to binge-watching their favorite series and movies.
Among the shows that people have taken the time to rewatch again is the hit musical dramedy "Glee," a pop culture phenomenon that swept the world in the early 2010s.
Since then, the impact of the show has reached the whole United States and the whole world, filled with music, talent, and drama.
Onto their fifth season, tragedy struck the show when its lead singer, Cory Monteith, who played Finn Hudson, tragically died. Since then, the show took a complete 360, even transcending to the cast, as revealed in the years to come.
'The Price of Glee' Documentary Trailer
Now, Investigation Discovery dropped the "Price of Glee" documentary trailer, a three-part series unpacking the "curse" on the show to its cast.
"In May 2009, 10 young actors made their TV debut on Glee. By 2020, all of them would be famous. And three of them would be dead," the trailer opens.
The "Price of Glee" documentary basically explores the impact of the death of its three main casts on the entire production, during and after the show has run.
Cory Monteith Death
Months away from the release of "Glee" Season 5 in 2013, the whole internet was at a standstill when reports of Cory Monteith's death came about. With everyone mourning the death of Monteith, people are also theorizing that his death, was ruled out as an overdose.
The third episode of the fifth season, titled "Quarterback" was dedicated solely to him, addressing his death in the show and his death in real life.
Mark Salling Death
Mark Salling's death was quite a reflection of his character Noah "Puck" Puckerman in the series. In 2015, he was arrested for possession of child pornography, pleading guilty through a plea deal two years after. In 2018, Salling committed suicide before his official sentencing, marking the second death of a cast member on the show. Eerily, Salling, and Monteith's characters were best friends on the show.
Naya Rivera Death
Naya Rivera's death shocked the world with how tragic her passing was. Hailed as one of the first openly lesbian characters on television, Rivera was well-loved by fans. That is why when rumors and eventual official reports of her drowning on Lake Piru in California while her son Riley still making it out alive had everyone crying.
In the show "The Price of Glee," the ID documentary recounted the stories based on the production's lenses, as no actors from the show were shown in the trailer.
"The Price of Glee" documentary is set to air on Jan. 16 at 9:00 p.m. ET on Investigation Discovery.
