Thank Goodness, the cast for the movie adaptation of the highly-anticipated movie adaptation of "Wicked" is almost complete, with reports confirming that the role of Madam Morrible has finally been filled!
Earlier this year, "Wicked" director Jon Chu revealed that the movie will be split into two films - one released in 2023, and the other one in 2024.
While the split gives the production a bigger leeway in creating a much more detailed and extensive spectacle, everyone is still excited and thrilled to be finally watching it on the big screen after numerous delays.
Although the release is actually a year away, since it will be released on December 2023, fans can't get enough of the impeccable casting of its main leads!
Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba or The Wicked Witch of the West
Tony-winning singer Cynthia Erivo proved that she has the vocal chops to follow in the footsteps of Idina Menzel who originated the role. Her undeniable beauty, charm, and hint of innocence make her the perfect green witch everyone has come to love and root for!
Ariana Grande as Glinda or The Good Witch of the North
Thanks to Kristin Chenoweth who paved the way for the role of Galinda, Ariana Grande, who is one of the biggest music stars today, certainly has the vocal prowess to belt out the highest of notes and the versatility to pull the vocally demanding song "Popular" every Glinda in Broadway has nailed.
Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero or Scarecrow
"Bridgerton" alum Jonathan Bailey might have been the most experienced actor in the mix with his vast theatre credits. Receiving a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical for Sondheim's "Company" as Jamie, Bailey is the perfect braveheart to play Fiyero.
Ethan Slater as Boq
Tony-nominated Ethan Slater, who brought to life Spongebob on Broadway, was cast as Boq, the swooning munchkin who is head over heels Glinda, but ended up with Nessa.
The most recent addition to the 'Wicked' The Movie official cast is of the two "villains" of the film: The Wizard and Madam Morrible.
Jeff Goldblum as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Jeff Goldblum is the wizard personified! With his cunning and sage-ly look, Goldblum is indeed the perfect actor to play the biggest con man! With his theatre credits, it is undeniable that Goldblum could pull it off! However, per Variety, official sources say that a final signed deal is not yet released.
Michelle Yeoh as Madam Morrible
Yeoh's addition to the cast might have been the biggest decision the production has pulled. Considering that Yeoh has not had any theatre or singing credits, her acting prowess speaks for herself - making her one of the most unexpected castings, but on-point casting so far.
To date, the only missing characters needed to be cast are Nessarose and Doctor Dillamond.
