If it appears as though fans haven't heard much from Liam Payne since he dissed One Direction and claimed the group was founded around him, it's because he hasn't been out much. He has now admitted that he suffered massive depression for the backlash he experienced from fans after a recent interview about the band and how he feels about his former bandmates.

It was back in June that Liam blew up the internet with some very daring remarks on Logan Paul's "Impaulsive" podcast. He claimed, among other things, that the group was formed around him, prompting "The X Factor" to disprove his claim with video evidence.

The show broadcast for the first time ever behind-the-scenes footage of the panel debating the male contestants, with Nicole Scherzinger initiating the idea of uniting some of them into a supergroup, naming Niall Horan as the first contestant. Liam also criticized Zayn, the first member to depart the group, calling him an s-- and citing "many reasons" for his dislike.

He claimed he was slammed into a wall by one of the guys, and said he and Louis Tomlinson detested one another when in 1D together. Fans responded negatively to his assertions that the band was established around him and that his first solo single outsold all of the other members' initial releases.

Liam revealed to his fans via Instagram Stories on Saturday that "things became extremely dark" for him and he didn't leave the house for three months as a result of the abuse he received.

Liam was watching the World Cup and things weren't going well for his team, so he tweeted a short movie of himself, writing it, "Patiently waiting for the blame and 'I blocked Liam' trend on Twitter if England loses."

He then went deep when one admirer tweet-shared his video and said that she hated that she laughed, adding, "u won liam payne." He thanked her for that and then opened up about how hard it's been for him seeing his supporters turn like they did.

Over a picture of himself, he wrote that his fans should be aware that he's sorry for everything. He added that he actually adores his guys and that he was not sure what was going on with him other than he had a problem with himself and he took it out on everyone else."

He went on to say that he never had a bigger chip on his shoulder and he's extremely delighted to lose it.

He closed by expressing his hope that his fans would forgive him, while admitting that he has been able to chuckle at the jokes and memes generated about it and urged them to "keep em coming."
