Pantera wrapped up its Knotfest performance without its bassist, Rex Brown.
The highly-anticipated tour of Pantera's current lineup started on Dec. 2 at Mexico's Heaven & Hell festival. The band is scheduled to appear in more festivals and shows across Central and South America.
But on the fourth date of the reunion tour, Brown had to miss the Chile performance due to a worrying reason.
Before the Knotfest performance on Dec. 11, the festival shared a statement on Instagram saying that the bassist would not be able to perform because of health problems.
"We regret this situation. However, the show was carried out as normal," Knotfest Chile said, as quoted by Ultimate Classic Rock & Culture.
Pantera singer Phil Anselmo, guitarist Zakk Wylde, and drummer Charlie Benante were joined by Cattle Decapitation bassist Derek Engemann instead.
Before the event, Brown was still able to perform with the band at Knotfest Colombia on December 9.
As of press time, there have been reports that the bassist returned to the US alone. However, this should be taken with a grain of salt as no verifications have been made yet.
It remains unknown whether he will also miss Pantera's upcoming schedules, which include a concert in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Dec. 15 and Knotfet Brazil on Dec. 18.
Pantera To Hold 1st Us Shows Next Year
Amid the bad news regarding Brown's health, Pantera confirmed it would be part of the 2023 Rock Fest bill next summer. It will be held on July 13 to 15 in Cadott, Wisconsin.
In three days, the festival will present over 70 bands in its five stages. It has not revealed the full lineup yet, but it has already confirmed Pantera's appearance.
Before starting the tour, Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante shared a photo of Wylde, Brown, and Anselmo as they rehearsed ahead of its major tours.
"2 weeks in NOLA with these boys, it's been a lot of work, but how could it not?. So much heart and soul is going into it.This is all about the Love for Vinnie and Dime , the fans and the music that these 4 created.I'm really enjoying playing these songs -they sound Great!" he captioned the post.
Benante filed it for the late Pantera drummer, Vinnie Paul.
Pantera will also hold its 2023 shows at Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park on June 2 to 4, the Sweden Rock Festival on June 10, and Tons of Rock on June 22 to 24.
