Garth Brooks might be able to end his comeback tour after playing just two cities during 2014 and still have plenty of money to show for it. Thus far Brooks has only announced two towns for the current tour...although those two cities have combined for 17 concerts thus far. Brooks has added four dates to his Atlanta tour stop since we last spoke and we can't say he's done.
When we last spoke, Brooks had brought his Georgia concert total to three shows, but that apparently wasn't enough. So he added two more shows. Tickets continued to sell and now Brooks has brought the number up to seven concerts. That marks a record for Philips Arena, with Brooks being the first performer ever to sell tickets for seven consecutive dates at one time at the venue. He's also passed his own record for most tickets sold in the city-81,902-and tickets continue to sell.
Brooks recently broke his ticket sales record as well for Chicago, which is the other town that's thus far been announced for the tour. Many presumed that Brooks was just being suspenseful as usual when he proceeded to only name one city at a time for his current tour. Music Times suggested, and we stand by it, that the method was actually a profit-optimization scheme for the country star. Brooks has been paying attention to ticket sales at the venue following his announcement and has continued to add new dates until he's reached his optimal ticket sales total. That's why he's playing ten shows in Chicago before heading to Atlanta and why we'll be waiting until Atlanta shows stop selling before we find out the next tour stop.
Along the same lines, Brooks has gained kudos for selling all tickets for the same price...something he can afford to do when he's selling out ten shows a city.
