Gunna's prison time will be cut short after he entered a plea deal with prosecutors to a racketeering conspiracy charge; this comes after being denied of bond three times in a row.

"While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have not made any statements, have not been interviewed, have not cooperated, have not agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely no intention of being involved in the trial process in any way," the rapper said in a statement.

"I have chosen to end my own RICO case with an Alford plea and end my personal ordeal by publicly acknowledging my association with YSL.

Despite pleading guilty, he maintains his innocence and claims that he accepted the deal for personal reasons, "An Alford plea in my case is the entry of a guilty plea to the one charge against me, which is in my best interest, while at the same time maintaining my innocence toward the same charge."

Gunna, along with 27 other defendants were indicted with the RICO Act, or Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, with 56 counts of gang-related activity and racketeering, Variety reports.

According to reports, all individuals charged in this case were named as affiliated with the YSL "gang", including another Atlanta rapper, Young Thug. He is still currently in jail.

Associations

"When I became affiliated with YSL in 2016, I did not consider it a 'gang'; more like a group of people from metro Atlanta who had common interests and artistic aspirations," Gunna wrote, as per statement he released to Complex.

Aside from this, he also cleared up exactly why he joined the YSL (Young Slime Life) "gang" in the first place, "My focus of YSL was entertainment - rap artists who wrote and performed music that exaggerated and 'glorified' urban life in the Black community."

ABC News reported that YSL also happens to be Gunna's record label, an imprint of 300 Entertainment, although the label was not named in the indictment.

On the other hand, Young Thug has also maintained his innocence and pled not guilty. His legal team proclaimed his innocence to ABC News, "Mr. Williams has committed no crime whatsoever."
