Many fans were surprised when SZA revealed the official tracklist of her album "S.O.S." a few weeks ago, as a familiar name was spotted as one of the collaborators. More recently, Phoebe Bridgers discussed how their song came together in an instant.
According to Billboard, the R&B star and the alternative/indie hitmaker teamed up for the song "Ghost in the Machine" and the latter shared that the song all began with a DM.
"She just hit me up. She just sent me a DM, and then it all happened so fast," Bridgers said.
The 28-year-old artist said she was not used to "that" in the world of pop music because "vinyl isn't so much of a consideration until way later.
"It's just like, 'Do you want to be on this record? OK, it's out next week.' It was so recent, which I really like," she added.
The singer then noted that she likes seeing artists have the same perspective as SZA because in Bridger's case, she would write, create, and produce music for so long and it would take her years to finish an album, but the R&B songstress has a different "angle."
Speaking about her collaborator, the "Kyoto" hitmaker reveals that she is her favorite rapper because of her effectivity to the public.
Phoebe Bridgers Talks About Another Collaboration
Elsewhere in her conversation with NME, the singer shared her thoughts on collaborating with Danny Elfman for a live-to-live performance of the movie "The Nightmare Before Christmas" earlier this week at the OVO Arena in Wembley, London.
Growing up, Bridgers said she had a crush on Sally, and the movie resonated with her as a kid because of the "goth stuff" or theme that revolves around the story.
She accompanied Elfman, the original voice of Jack Skellington, for the shows.
In other updates about the indie singer, Bridgers is one of Taylor Swift's special guests on her highly-anticipated "The Eras" tour.
The "Moon Song" hitmaker is included in the lineup consisting of other music acts like Paramore, girl in red, OWENN, beabadoobee, MUNA, Gracie Adams, and Gayle.
She will only appear on selected tour dates beginning in Nashville on May 6, Philadelphia on May 12 and 13, Foxborough on May 19 and 20, and her final appearance in New Jersey on May 26 and 27.
