Many iPhone and iPad users became excited when the latest iOS update enables users to use Apple Music's latest feature, removing the vocals on songs for them to use it as a karaoke. The big question is: how can Apple users make it work?
It all began in a viral video posted by Sam Kohl in which he shows the latest update, explaining the feature "Apple Music Sing" where fans can change the volume of the singer's vocals on selected songs.
The short clip amassed more than 686,000 views, 23,000 likes, and thousands of retweets and replies from online users.
The latest update got mixed reactions from fans, ranging from people who are happy with the latest feature because they could vibe to their favorite artists' music, to others who are concerned that the update might encounter a problem with the law.
"Is that not illegal, since the artist and copyright is maybe being altered, the music, or art form including the brand is being altered, unless there is a unique agreement with each record company and artists, producers of the artwork when listing with Apple music," one fan wrote.
Even though Apple has not commented nor confirmed the matter, one user pointed out that the company is a multibillion-dollar corporation, meaning they have it all figured out.
How to Use Apple Music Sing
According to Uproxx, there are only selected Apple devices where the karaoke feature is available.
For iPhone users, it should be iPhone 11 or newer phone models (12, 13, and 14). For those who own an iPad, it has to be an iPad 9, 10, 6, Air 4, Air 5, M1, M2, and/or Pro.
To begin, confirm if your device is compatible with the latest Apple Music update and make sure that the device software is updated (iOS 16.2).
Fans/users could only use the sing feature if the Apple Music subscription is active.
Take note that not all songs in the streaming application are available for the new feature, there are only selected tracks where fans can use Apple Music Sing.
To enable the feature, select the "Lyrics" button which can be found in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. It will show a "beat-by-beat" lyrics view along with the "Sing" button.
If the "Sing" button isn't available on your screen, the song is not supported by the latest update.
