In the midst of her trial against Tory Lanez, Megan Thee Stallion is having some issues.
Prior to his scheduled court appearance, Justin Edison, his former bodyguard and a crucial witness in the case, has reportedly vanished, according to Radar Online.
After it was alleged that Lanez shot Stallion in the foot in 2020, he is being sued for assault.
The bodyguard's testimony in the case was set for the next week.
The "WAP" hitmaker's attorney, Alex Spiro, confirmed Edison's disappearance in a statement that was also provided to TMZon Saturday.
"We recently learned that Justin Edison went missing right before he was scheduled to appear in court."
"The LAPD is currently looking into his disappearance, and welcome any information about his whereabouts," they added.
Edison hasn't been reported missing as of the time of this writing, but. The police department's spokeswoman said, "Yeah, because it makes him seem sound like he's a criminal," when asked if it was inappropriate to suggest the police were looking for the bodyguard.
Rolling Stone reported that the judge presiding over the case, David Herriford, was requested to issue a "body attachment," or warrant, for Edison, indicating that the prosecution had given up trying to have him testify.
A source familiar with the situation stated that Edison's lawyer has been waiting for a response from him since Thursday.
Edison was said to have knowledge of the shooting night even though he was not there at the occurrence. According to another account, he allegedly added that Lanez apologized for shooting Megan Thee Stallion and that he was inadvertently hitting the ground when the female rapper was hit.
Following the incident in 2020, Edison apparently received a number of texts from Stallion's old acquaintance Kelsey Harris.
She allegedly wrote "Tory shot meg" and "help" Edison in the message.
On Monday, December 12, in Los Angeles, Harris, who was in the car with Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion during the alleged event, gave a witness statement in the former's defense.
According to Insider, forensic expert Marc Taylor testified in court during the trial that Lanez's DNA was not discovered on the gun's magazine and that tests conducted on the DNA discovered on the weapon were inconclusive.
His testimony supported the LAPD investigation and reflected what criminalist Randy Zepeda said when testifying.
The trial was postponed until Monday and will now resume over the weekend. Before the jury is excused from the case to deliberate, the defense has not yet said whether Lanez would testify.
