Johnny Depp and Amber Heard could finally be free from each other.
Following an op-ed she penned for The Washington Post in 2018, the 59-year-old singer-guitarist successfully sued his ex-wife for defamation at the beginning of this year.
Amber didn't specifically address Johnny in her post, but she did discuss her own experience with domestic abuse. His attorneys countered that this meant she endured physical abuse from him during their relationship.
However, a Virginia-based jury decided in the "Pirate of the Caribbean" actor's favorand gave him $8 million, while the "Aquaman" actress was only granted $2 million in damages in her countersuit after six grueling weeks of trial, which was also aired live for everyone to see.
Amber appealed the decision after it was made, but it wasn't until today that she said she would settle the defamation suit that had been launched against her.
Amber Heard explained her choice in-depth in a long Instagram post, claiming that it was neither a "admission" nor "an act of concession."
The mom-of-one also said, "It is important for me to say I never chose this."
"I defended my truth and in doing so my life as I knew it was destroyed."
Amber said that even if her appeal were successful, a new jury would have to hear the material several times throughout the retrial.
The blonde bombshell said that the "vilification" she experienced on social media only served to reinforce the idea that women are "re-victimized" after speaking out.
"I make this decision having lost faith in the American legal system where my unprotected testimony served as entertainment and social media fodder.

Johnny Depp's New Album 2022
In July, Johnny Depp and collaborator Jeff Beck released a new album, "18," following his resounding victory against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
The 13-song album is streamable and available on CD; a 180-gram black vinyl edition was released in September.
Following the album's release, Johnny promptly embarked on a European tour.
Sandra, Jeff's wife, created the illustrations for Johnny and Jeff's album, depicting the two when they were both 18 years old.
When Johnny and Jeff first met in 2016, they bonded over their shared love of guitars and automobiles and later began hanging around.
As they spent more time together, Jeff became aware of Johnny's musical abilities.
