Taylor Swift's highly-anticipated "The Eras" tour has been controversial over the past few weeks due to the high volume of people who attempted to buy passes. More recently, the US government has been involved and those who will try to re-sell the tickets might end up in big trouble.

Since the demand for the pop star's concert continues to soar, many people have been re-selling tickets for thousands of dollars based on StubHub's website.

According to the New York Post, the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) will be involved if scalpers attempt to sell tickets for a profit.

There's a provision in a new law called the American Rescue Plan Act of 2022. In this law, the agency warns American business owners who earn more than $600 annually on payments they receive through apps (Venmo, PayPal, and more) that they will receive a tax.

The recent law covers small business owners who have part-time work by selling goods, working side hustles, and even re-selling concert tickets.

This means those who re-sell tickets, which are expensive and could go more than $500 just on the upper deck section of the venue, have to report their transactions.

The outlet noted that re-sell ticket prices are rising; for example, the "Paper Rings" hitmaker's show in Glendale, Arizona, on March 17 can cost a fan more than a whopping $9,000 for a ticket near the stage.

The recent news comes after the Ticketmaster fiasco as millions of fans attempted to purchase tickets on the website all at the same time during its pre-sale.

The high number of people led to the website's crash, leaving many fans or Swifties that waited for hours to buy tickets not get anything.

By November 18, the ticket-selling merchant announced that the initially planned general sale on November 18 had been canceled because of "extraordinarily high demands."

Taylor Swift was not happy with the news as she broke her silence, saying it "really pisses" her off that many of her fans had to "go through several bear attacks to get" passes.

More recently, selected Swifties received an e-mail from Ticketmaster, saying they will have a chance to purchase tickets again and it's all because of the pop star's team.

The website also offered an apology to fans for the issues that happened last month.
