The fans of John Mayer and Taylor Swift are now at odds with one another.
The gifted singer-songwriters briefly dated between 2009 and 2010, as fans of them are aware. Taylor was 19 at the time, and John was 32.
According to rumors, the singer of "Your Body Is A Wonderland" will be a guest on Wednesday's episode of "Call Her Daddy" of the podcast.
In a clip from the interview, the 45-year-old can be heard telling interviewer Alex Cooper that he did a lot of "sh-t" in his 20s and that his attempt to clear up the mistake was merely a last-ditch effort since, sadly, "I did worse."
John said, "In those moments, I would've traded every song I was going to write to not have that feeling."
However, many social media users criticized the "Never Getting Back Together" artist before his participation on the well-known podcast for saying that John had groomed her.
Following the announcement of the interview, individuals vented their concerns on social media.
One guy questioned, "Why are we giving John Mayer a platform?"
When they started dating, John was about 19 years older than Taylor.
This comes after the "Lavender Haze" singer posted seven more tracks for her bonus deluxe, "3AM," a few hours after dropping her tenth album, "Midnights," on October 21.
The extra track's lyrics, "Would've, Could've, Should've," led many people to think that she was dating the singer of "Heartbreak Warfare" at the time.
Through the song, the singer, who is now 32, expressed her profound remorse for dating other guys.
Even the lyrics to her famous song "Dear John" in the "Speak Now" album said, "Don't you think nineteen's too young to be played by your dark, twisted games?"
In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2012, John didn't appreciate that he was the subject of the song, saying, "I'm not trying to sink anybody's ship, but I think it's abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, 'Wait till he gets a load of this!' That's b------."
Even though John Mayer received a lot of criticism, others soon joined in- but slammed Taylor Swift as well.
According to a tweet, "Many females called John Mayer a groomer for dating Taylor Swift when she was 19 in the comments."
"Grooming by definition is child exploitation," it read, "therefore these ladies don't consider a 19-year-old woman with the agency is an adult. My hypothesis is they only think this way when it's advantageous."
A second user remarked that someone who "literally grooms" children would be "child m---sting."
"While 19 is still a young age, it is legal, and calling that grooming ignores genuine grooming victims."
