Gunna was previously behind bars after his legal issues but was able to strike a plea deal, leading him to be free before the holiday season.
Throughout the years, the rapper has been showing his kindness and generosity by giving away to charities and to those who are in need. It was supposedly his fifth year this 2022 but was unable to hand out goods after Walmart canceled their deal.
According to Uproxx, what the retail giant did to the rapper's "Gunna's Great Giveaway" is a very predictable move when it comes to the corporate world as they wanted to distance themselves from the musician because of his criminal record.
What's more disappointing was there were over 1,000 families who had signed up for the event, waiting to receive something this holiday season.
Gunna Makes BIG Move For Families This Holiday Season
To take matters into their own hands, Gunna's team still proceeded to give out $100,000 worth of gifts and gift cards to those who signed up.
Speaking about the recent charitable move, Goodr CEO Jasmine Crowe issued a statement, saying his annual giveaway family foundation was "essential" to the rapper, and their company did everything they could so that the families who were promised to receive something will not go home emptyhanded even without Walmart's initial plans.
"We contacted all 1,000 families this week. Working with the City Of South Fulton, every family received their gift cards and gifts today. It's important to note this event is in its fifth year," she added, before noting that Goodr has been working with Gunna for his giveaway since 2018.
Gunna's Previous Charitable Acts
In September, despite being behind bars, Gunna did his best to make sure he gives back to the community as he announced an event called "Gunna Fest" in South Fulton, Georgia.
Also in partnership with Goodr, the event was held at the 5201 Old National Highway College Park a few months ago.
"Gunna Fest," which was held after the annual "Gunna Day" in the city, gave out free merchandise, food, rides, and many more.
He was previously awarded a big honor by the city's mayor, William "Bill" Edwards, for his previous heroic actions as he has been doing philanthropic efforts for the people around the area.
102.7 KIIS FM reported that the rapper established "Goodr Grocery Story" and "Gunna's Drip Closet" to provide free food and items for the students of McNair Middle School.
