Over the past years, Drake has been unbeatable as he continuously dominates the charts and sells millions of album copies to his fans, but this year was a little different as he has been dethroned by Taylor Swift and even lost a whopping $1 million; what happened?

Billboard placed Drake at number five on their "Greatest Pop Stars of 2022" list for maintaining his legendary status this year.

In the first half of the year, the rapper appeared in many collaborative tracks with other musicians like "P power" with Gunna, "Churchill Downs" with Jack Harlow," "Wait For U" with Future, and many more.

Although he had just released new music in 2021 with his album "Certified Lover Boy," fans were surprised as he started teasing a new project by June this year after posting a photo on Instagram that has the title "Honestly, Nevermind."

The album was immediately released the following day and no one saw it coming.

Drake explored the house music genre in his new album and it received mixed reactions from fans, nevertheless, he still dominated the charts as it got the top spot on the charts after selling 204,000 equivalent album units, making it his 11th number-one album.

During the fourth quarter of 2022, Drake didn't stop releasing more music as he dropped "Her Loss," a collaborative project with 21 Savage.

Although the record was successful, the rapper's new era also became controversial after faking magazine covers and interviews to promote the album.

Their fake Vogue Magazine cover led them to face a "Flagrant Infringement" lawsuit from Condé Nast.

Drake Dethroned by Taylor Swift + $1M Loss Due to the World Cup

Since the October 21 release of "Midnights," Taylor Swift's wave of success has dominated the industry, leading her to dethrone Drake for having the most singles on the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 songs.

Drake previously got nine spots for one week last year, while the pop star broke the record for dominating the entire top 10 list with songs from her latest album.

In recent reports about Drake, the rapper lost a whopping $1 million and Argentina seemingly "broke" the bizarre phenomenon called the "Drake Curse."

According to Uproxx, many fans were worried when the "Take Care" hitmaker announced that he would bet on Argentina against France for the World Cup finals.

The country won, but Drake ultimately lost the money due to a technicality as he bet that Argentina would get its victory before halftime, but France was able to hit the goal before the penalty shootout.

As of this writing, Drake has yet to announce new music for the upcoming year.
