Although Tory Lanez isn't as big of a star as Megan Thee Stallion, he received some support following the jury's decision to convict him of three felony counts.
The rapper's fans took to the Internet to share their frustrations with the case, as they launched several petitions on Change.org to appeal his guilty verdict.
"Tory Lanez was found guilty of all charges and it is a true miscarriage of justice!" One of the three petitions read. "The state did not prove that Lanez undoubtedly committed any crime."
"Reasonable doubt loomed over a 10-day trial as the prosecution was unable to show us that there were not alternative explanations of the events."
The statement also said the trial was a "circus of speculation, insufficient evidence, inconsistencies, and drunken memories."
Aside from these accusations against the prosecution, Lanez's fans also blamed the jury selection for coming up with the verdict.
Elsewhere in their statement, fans alleged that the trial was a PR stunt, "This case is also about branding, marketing, label heads, and a music industry that pushes narratives based on who they have personally invested millions into. Could Jay-Z or RocNation be involved?"
The petitioner alleged that the crime committed against Megan Thee Stallion was simply pinned on Lanez, and called the courts to look further into the incident, instead of sending the Canadian rapper to jail.
"The justice I want for Megan is for the full truth to come out, rather than the scrambled truth we are left with. Who really hurt Meg? Was this case taken because of a political pressure to fake protect black women?"
This particular petition was launched by an individual named Yasin Touré. Other petitions popped up over the weekend, which gained less attention, but had the same goal.
As of this writing, Touré's petition has garnered over 19,000 signatories, while the other petitions collected 118 signatures.
Lanez was charged and found guilty of felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a concealed, unregistered firearm, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
He is facing up to 22 years in jail, as well as deportation to Canada, where he is originally from.
The trial comes two years after the said incident, wherein Lanez shot Megan Thee Stallion's foot in a vehicle during a house party in beauty mogul and reality star Kylie Jenner's house.
The "Body" rapper initially claimed that she stepped on broken glass, which resulted in the injury on her foot, however, she eventually came forward and pointed the finger at Lanez for shooting her in the foot, a statement which was met with criticism and doubt.
