Kendrick Lamar 'Control' Verse: Lupe Fiasco Responds To Diss Track With '#DopeFrancis,' 'SLR 2', Ghostwrites Rebuttals As Jay Z, Rick Ross, Wale, Others On Twitter

While the internet has been aflame over Kendrick Lamar's (actually kind of lackluster...I mean a list of names is an audacious thing to put out, but it's still just a list) verse on Big Sean's "Control," Lupe Fiasco has been busy doing something about it. While Lupe was not explicitly mentioned in the verse that called out Jay Z, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Wale and others, he did release two songs (one seeming to address the controversy directly, the other just a decent song to prove he's still got it) "SLR 2" and "#DopeFrancis." In an interesting take, Lupe tweeted ghostwritten responses to K-Dot's diss in the style of other rappers and it is amazing how spot on they are.

Let's start with the new music, Fiasco fans were asking him to respond to the Kendrick "Control" gauntlet being thrown. He initially said that there was "No fun in that" and dropped "#DopeFrancis" instead. The song is solid, as if to say, "I still got it, Kendrick. Don't come for me," but fans still clamored for a direct response. Listen to it below:

However, Lupe eventually caved to fan pressure and it's a good thing he did. I am not a Lupe stan (as a matter of fact, I'm probably one of the biggest Lamar lovers around), but Fiasco annhilates Kendrick in "SLR 2" a huge, pointed takedown. Listen to it below:

I'll break down the meaty bit of the song here:

I love Jay, that's my nigga
I feel sicker than a cruise ship
I ain't competition, I don't move shit
The only opposition is this new shit

(Lupe is backing Jay Z, who is called out personally by Kendrick in "Control." He also claims that he can't compete with Kendrick on a commercial level but if new school rappers like Kendrick are his only competition, he's not losing sleep.)
These new niggas rappin' like they 2
They be actin' like they you, man that's-- wheeeeeew shit
What happened to the game?
Niggas think they Jappin' cause they rappin' like they Wayne
Rappin' like they Chainz
I ain't matchin' them in platinum
But I'm rappin' like I'm flames

(These lines point out the ridiculousness of rapper's claiming a legendary status, like that of 2pac, that they haven't earned. It also accuses them of stealing their style from other rappers and once again brings up the commercial vs. lyrical measuring stick)
Like smackin' them in the back of him and my antonyms is on 'cain
And my heroin is on metaphors and my metaphors is on brains
My left foot is in LA but my right foot is in Spain
Now we all heard what he said, but what he said means we dead
And that shit is insane

(The only way that Kendrick is better than all other rappers is if all other rappers are dead.)
He's so crazy, look at the little baby
Nigga you ain't Nas, nigga you ain't Jay-Z
You will respect me, you will reject me
But I've done so much, no matter how far you go, you will reflect me

(Show respect, youngblood. No matter where Kendrick goes, Lupe, Jay Z and Nas were there before him.)

Whew. But Lupe was far from done. He also wrote a few responses as other rapper's that were on point.
