The hip-hop community was shocked when Migos rapper Takeoff was gunned down in Houston last Nov. 1, 2022.
Takeoff was pronounced dead on the arrival of emergency responders after a heated altercation turned bloody. Quavo, one-half of the remaining Migos trio, was also there at the scene.
It took authorities weeks to find the Takeoff's killer, and upon arrest, he was said to have intentions of fleeing the country to avoid being prosecuted.
In a new HiphopDX article, Takeoff's alleged killer, named Patrick Xavier Clark, is asking for another bond reduction, apart from the courtesies, appeals, and previous bond reductions that were already granted to him by the court.
ABC13 said in a report that Clark's legal camp is asking for another reduction. Currently, the bond already costs $1,000,000, half of the initially set amount of $2,000,000. Now, Clark wants to lower the $1M by another $300,000.
Per HipHopDX, if this bond reduction is granted, Clark is expected to be out of custody before New Year's Eve, all while his passport is turned in. He would also be assigned a GPS monitoring device by a bond company that would immediately notify the authorities if he ever violated the conditions already in place.
Per the publication, the suspect's family expressed intent to put their Houston home as collateral should the court grant the request for bond reduction.
However, the presiding judge on the case is skeptical because of the risk that Clark has posed to the prosecution. Upon his arrest last month, he was found with his passport and trip tickets to Mexico.
Reports also say that Clark deliberately tried to flee the country after the murder of Takeoff as it was revealed that Clark used fake tickets to secure a passport and had online searches checking if he had already been accused as a suspect in Takeoff's death. (via Billboard)
Because of this, the judge wants to enact a deep dive into Clark and his family's finances, as he was recorded saying that the original $2M bond is doable. Apart from that, Clark requested a private investigator at a lower rate.
Another bond hearing will be taking place tomorrow, Dec. 29, 2022, to determine if Clark's request for bond reduction will be granted or not.
