Usher is mourning the passing of his grandmother Ernestine 'Tina' Carter.
The "Burn" hitmaker, full name Usher Raymond IV, offered a moving tribute to his grandmother on Instagram on Monday, days after she passed away on Christmas Eve at the age of 87.
He has revealed that it has taken him a few days to accept that his grandmother Tina is no longer with him. He added that he's hoping for clarity and fortitude for everyone who relied on her. Her daily commitment was to aid those in need, and she did so. It was her life's job. Usher says,"She was a true prayer warrior for me and a great number of others." Currently, he said that he still feels a bit disoriented.
The 44-year-old explained that while one half of him is attempting to be strong for others, the other half "continues to break silently" since he "wasn't ready" to say goodbye to her. More so when just a few days ago, they were still joking around. He added that he truly thought they would still have more time together.
Usher also could not forget the last words his grandma said to him, which is that there is a season for everything: a time to laugh, a time to cry, a time to live, and a time to die.
Usher told his followers that Carter was his "earth angel" since she could always cheer him up by just saying she loves him more.
He said it is at this heartbreaking moment that he actually wants to see his grandmother and hear her even one more time. He is sorely missing her.
