50 Cent made it clear he would not release a new album anytime soon.
After the release of his studio album "Animal Ambition" in 2014, 50 Cent has not released new music to fans. Instead, he has been starring in more TV shows and films as his empire as an actor expands.
In a new interview with PEOPLE amid the success of his "Surviving El Chapo" podcast, the "In Da Club" rapper said he truly enjoys music since his fans have always been supportive of him. But since his supporters grew older, he adjusted his desires and gave them shows instead.
"I mean, I really enjoy the music," he said. "But the audience is changing. My core audience was in college in 2003. They're grown now and they may have the drink that you would have in the nightclub in the privacy of their home now. They are my television viewership now. That's who's watching."
Although he will not release a new music project, 50 Cent revealed he is still working on new ideas for his possible tracks. But for now, the music he creates will be for his film and TV projects.
He has been tapped to be part of the films "Transport" and "Den of Thieves 2: Pantera" as the lead actor and producer, respectively. He also had a recurring role in the 2020 TV show, "For Life."
50 Cent Fell in Love With True Crime Stories
As he works on his podcast, the 47-year-old hip-hop artist opened up about his love for the true crime genre. He revealed that he has been into current events, as well.
The new podcast focuses on twins Pedro and Margarito Flores, who grew up to become two of the most powerful traffickers in Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera's hierarchy. They eventually flipped on El Chapo in pursuit of avoiding long jail time.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported that the siblings received 15 years of imprisonment each. The length caused queries as it was very lenient after they smuggled 71 tons of cocaine and heroin.
The twins helped throughout the eight episodes by telling their stories from their childhood until they scored a connection with El Chapo.
"We also wanted to tell the reality of what so many young kids get brought up in and how it can turn out," 50 Cent co-host Charlie Webster said.
