2022 was filled with twists and turns, especially in the music industry!

For some netizens, the year felt particularly long. One wouldn't even believe that some of the biggest moments in the entertainment industry, and by extension the music scene, actually happened this year, and not in 202!

Very recently, popular Entertainment news aggregator Pop Crave, posted a poll on Twitter earlier this week, asking their 1.2 million followers on the social media platform, what their favorite pop culture moment in 2022 was.

We did some straining and searching to do and came up with the five most popular answers from the almost 3,000 responses to the question.

Top 5 Pop Culture Moments in Music in 2022

Kate Bush, Stranger Things, and Everyone's Favorite Song!

"Stranger Things" Season 4 was the most-watched series on the streaming giant this year. Apart from the outstanding acting from the young ensemble, the gripping storyline, and impeccable animation, the show's music pretty much made the whole show one of the best shows in recent memory.

On the fourth episode of the show, Sadie Sink's character Max Mayfield was captured by Vecna in the "upside-down." To counter the fatal trance, her friends had to blast her favorite song on the headphones. Her favorite song? Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill."

Because of this, the song gained a massive resurgence in the charts, catapulting the song 27 spots higher on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, 38 years since it was released.

Lea Michele is 'Funny' But She Can't Read?

The theatre geeks were #shookt when Lea Michele, who played the annoying Jewish girl Rachel Berry on "Glee," finally played the role of her life when she bagged the role of Fanny Brice on Broadway's 2022 revival production of "Funny Girl" #IRL.

Following her cast, the infamous rumor about her inability to read has resurfaced and it plagued Twitter and TikTok - prompting the public to go down the rabbit hole to know the answers to one of the internet's most burning questions - can Lea Michele actually read?

Nicki Minaj's Video Vanguard and Career-Spanning Pink Performance

The Queen of Rap made her presence felt this year. Starting from her early January release of "Do We Have A Problem," Nicki had everyone on their freakiest behavior when she released "Super Freaky Girl," weeks before she receives the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2022 MTV VMAs.

Of course, the night wouldn't be possible if she doesn't perform, so as a treat to the Barbz, Queen Nicki sang and danced to her greatest hits, and had Taylor dancing to "Super Bass."

Bad Girl Riri's Comeback

Rihanna fans had been clamoring for her comeback since 2016. To their surprise, after actually giving up that RiRi would return and make music again, they were surprised to know that she would be returning the biggest way possible - as an NFL Halftime Performer!

Apart from this, she had everyone bawling their eyes out when she sang the perfect goodbye song to the late Chadwick Boseman on "Black Panther 2." Rihanna really lifted everyone up!

Taylor Swift = Music Industry

After announcing that she would be releasing her brand new album at the 2022 MTV VMAs, Swifties worldwide was in a frenzy! Guessing every song title, every easter egg that Taylor's dropping, the Swifties are at it!

Upon its release, Swift made history when she became the first artist to ever occupy the entire Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 with her songs from "Midnights." Not only did Swift break the charts, but she also broke Ticketmaster's ticketing software with her record-breaking "The Eras" tour presale fiasco that launched separate local and federal investigations to Live Nation and Ticketmaster. If that doesn't really prove that Taylor is the music industry, we don't know what will.
