Sebastian Marino, a guitarist who notably played for the bands Anvil and Overkill, has died. He was 57.

Marino's friend, Bruce Pilato, confirmed the musician's death in a Facebook post on Sunday. He detailed that the guitarist was working a New Year's Eve job and setting up sound equipment for an event in Florida when he was rushed to the hospital. Marino died afterward.

He did not disclose whether he died of a health-related issue. But he recalled in the same post their first meeting.

"He and I go back to the 1980s and in the mid-1990s we worked together with Linda Rutherford & Celtic Fire, which featured his first wife. It was Sebastian who I approached for a road crew when I first started working with Carl Palmer in 2005," he said.

Pilato called Marino a "brilliant musician" who was like a best friend to any road technicians and musicians he worked with. He ended his post by saying the guitarist was a "diamond whose legacy will shine on forever."

Marino's family is yet to release a statement to address his passing and give further details about his "sudden" death. Funeral arrangement plans are also not confirmed as of press time.

His former bands sent messages of condolences to Marino's bereaved family and shared the time they had with him. Fans and colleagues also posted their tributes after the guitarist's death.
