Iggy Pop became a successful musician on his own and by being a member of the Stooges, but he once received a big offer to become the singer of one of the most renowned bands of all time; why did he turn down the offer?

Speaking to the New York Times to promote his new album "Every Loser," the "Lust For Life" hitmaker revealed that he was approached by a manager to become AC/DC's singer.

At the time when he was contacted by the band's staff, the Stooges hadn't reformed yet and he was not based in England. He recalled "the guy" calling him if he was interested in joining the group.

However, he had to reject the offer after listening to their songs because he thought he couldn't "fit that bill."

Explaining his side, even more, Iggy added, "I wasn't like, ugh, I don't like them. It was quite well made. They do careful work, but I'm not what they needed." (via 98.3 The Snake)

The rock 'n' roll singer didn't reveal more information about the offer and the exact year when he was approached was not specified in the article, but the outlet noted that the vocalist moved to London to record the album "Raw Power" with the Stooges.

On the other hand, AC/DC was formed nine months after Iggy relocated to the city. Their first album titled "High Voltage" was released in 1975.

The rock band considered several other singers to take the frontman role after former vocalist Bon Scott's death in 1980. The band chose Brian Johnson to replace him and has been working with the group ever since.

Iggy Pop has met the late singer before as there were multiple photos of them online, however, the musician doesn't remember any of their meetings as they were "both drunk and stoned."

"I see pictures sometimes. I go, I don't remember, but that's me with Bon! I loved what he did," he added.

In other updates, Iggy Pop is set to release his new album "Every Loser" this January 6, he already dropped two singles titled "Frenzy" and his recent one, "Strung out Johnny." (via The Rock Pit)

In addition to a new album, he is also expected to perform at concerts around the west coast which will begin in Los Angeles, California, on April 20.
