The early 2000s saw one of the most iconic trios in celebrity history: Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Lindsay Lohan; and since all three are now doing much better in their personal lives and career, it's no surprise that some of them will be spotted together from time to time.

Over the weekend, Hilton celebrated her friend Cade Hudson's birthday with a carousel of pictures on Instagram, but out of all the pictures she posted, a particular one caught everyone's attention: it was a picture of Hilton, Hudson, and Spears.

Maybe it was because fans simply cannot believe that Spears is going out of her house and actually hanging out with long-time friends, or for another reason, but they accused the heiress of photoshopping the "Toxic" singer between herself and Hudson.

According to reports, others theorized that a body double must have been used while they took the photo.

"That's not Britney," a fan reportedly wrote.

"It's really strange how half the necklace chains are missing in the photo with Britney. And what's wrong with her fingers?" Another added.

"Is that an AI Britney? Look at her fingers!!! WTF Paris? You're becoming more and more shady to me and I used to love you dude. How dare you participate in whatever is going on with Brit?"

Debunked

According to Daily Mail UK, the "Stars are Blind" singer took to the comments to respond to the rumors: "To all those asking. Some of these photos were taken on an iPhone so they ended up being blurry.

"So, they used this app called Remini to make it look unblurry, and sometimes, the AI distorts images. Didn't want to even dignify this with a response. But some of these conspiracy theories are absolutely ridiculous."

Additionally, according to Buzzfeed, it should be no surprise that Spears was present in the picture, after all, she and Hilton are close with Hudson, who also happens to be Spears' longtime agent.

Spears' fans might be right-or wrong-but one thing is for certain: they will definitely defend the "Oops I Did It Again" singer from anyone who will use the singer for clout or anything of that sort.

Their overprotectiveness, although borderline obsessive, might stem from the singer's numerous problems and trauma brought about by her 13-year conservatorship.

However, it's safe to assume that Hilton doesn't need to use Spears for clout and that they are genuinely friends. The two are considered it girls of the early 2000s and have no bad blood between them.
