The follow-up for "SOUR" is almost there!
At the second-year anniversary of her breakout single, "driver's license," Olivia Rodrigo gave her fans a sweet treat and a thank you message on Instagram.
"Working on so many new songs I'm excited to show u," Rodrigo posted along with a video of herself, presumably singing one of her new songs. "Thank u for everything."
Fans were absolutely thrilled about the new teaser and excited about the new music that she will release this year.
"one thing about my sister. she has a piano and a dream. and she's gon pick one chord to play tf out of. and that's bc she's mother," a fan said.
"THE QUEEN OF BROKEN HEARTS IS COMING BACK SOOOOOOON," another shared.
"2023 IS SETTING UP TO EAT FOR MUSIC OMG," someone commented.
"Omg Olivia is coming and I'm excited for it. I wonder what is her next era after SOUR," another user wondered
In May 2021, Rodrigo released her debut album, "SOUR," months after her single "driver's license" dominated the airwaves, streaming platforms, and social media.
The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with 295,000 album-equivalent units sold. Last July 2022, it was recorded that the project is the longest-running debut album in the genre-blending chart top 10 of the 21st century, marking a 52-week run, surpassing Lady Gaga's "The Fame."
It also earned Rodrigo three Grammys, Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance with "driver's license."
However, not everyone is enthused with her new teaser, suggesting that the album would most likely sound like the same songs she has released before.
"Why does she need to make new music? Just listen to her old music it all sounds the same anyway," a user said.
"are we sure? that's the same chord over 4 bars...ik that a single insta story isn't gonna have a whole song but y'all getting hyped for that," someone asked.
"let's just hope it's not as mid as the ones from sour," another commented.
"This news just tell us Taylor Swift will be release an old song," some user quipped.
Last month, Rodrigo teased that she is already making significant developments on her new album, saying that she is excited for "all of the new things and new music that 2023 will bring".
