The iHeart Music Awards have released their list of 2023 nominations, which means that it is time for us to make our predictions.

The new music that we heard this year was absolutely off the charts. There was not a sound that we did not love to consume. There was definitely some difficult competition to make it onto this year's list of nominees. It will be an even tougher fight to go home with the award. Everyone nominated for these awards is a supremely talented star. While it may be cliched, just getting the nomination is the win.

However, what fun is competition without a winner?

We have some predictions of our own about who will walk home with the bragging rights of a well-deserved victory. We are going to focus on only a few of the categories, and we will continue to release predictions for the other categories as the date of the awards show inches closer and closer. Today, we will be focusing on three of the big ones: Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Best Duo/Group.

Prediction #1: Artist of the Year- Taylor Swift

We will be shocked if Taylor Swift does not emerge victorious as Artist of the Year. Everyone that has been nominated has had an absolutely incredible year filled with outstanding songs and musical triumphs that we have been locking on replay for hours on end. The other nominees include brilliant talents such as Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Drake, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Jack Harlow, Justin Bieber, Lizzo, and The Weeknd.

Every single one of these artists deserve to be on this list. Swift is not an easy choice, however, the artist has broken more records in the last year than we can count. Every other day we find ourselves writing a new article about a new and exciting feat that the star has taken on. Taking our love for her music out of it, Swift should take home the award based on statistics alone. On paper, Swift has had the most mathematically successful year of any other artist on the list.

That's why it seems only right that we lock in Taylor Swift as our prediction for Artist of the Year.

Prediction #2: Best Collaboration - Sam Smith & Kim Petras

This was an incredibly tough call, but we are predicting that the award for Best Collaboration this year goes to the incredibly talented team up of Sam Smith & Kim Petras. Their song "Unholy" has been playing on repeat on every radio station every second of the day. The epic number is everywhere, underscoring everyone's days. Of course, this was a tough prediction to make out of the other nominees.

While everyone nominated for the award has a fighting chance of taking home the gold, we were stuck on this prediction between "Unholy" and the Lil Nas X & Jack Harlow masterpiece "Industry Baby". "Industry Baby" came out quite some time before "Unholy," and has been a lasting source for the obsession of the masses. This made the songs more difficult to compare, but, ultimately we went with "Unholy" because of it's immediate and glaring success. (Also, truth be told, we probably just listened to it more recently!)

For Best Collaboration, we are locking in Sam Smith & Kim Petras as our prediction.

Prediction #3: Best Duo/Group - BLACKPINK

We think that BLACKPINK will be taking home the award for Best Duo/Group at this year's iHeart Music Awards. The world-reknown K-pop girl group broke the internet with their incredibly catchy song "Pink Venom." Not only is the song absolutely fire, but the world took to TikTok to try their hand at the dance challenge the number began. It rung on repeat throughout the world, making it an incredibly fierce competitor in this awards category.

When solidifying our prediction, we looked not only at the numbers produced by these duos and groups but at the number of times they have been nominated in this round of awards. The most nominations anyone in this category has recieved is four. Those nominated in these many categories include BLACKPINK, AJR, Imagine Dragons, and Black Eyed Peas. While the competition is tough, we still believe that BLACKPINK's international reach will help them take home the crown.

Our official prediction for Best Duo/Group is BLACKPINK.

And Thus Concludes

Our first three official predictions of this year's iHeart Music Awards. Keep coming back as we work through the rest of our predictions for this season!
