Michael Flatley, a famed dancer who created "Lord of the Dance," revealed his devastating diagnosis to fans.

On Flatley's Instagram page, a post said he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. It marked the second time he faced the dreaded illness following his malignant melanoma battle in 2003.

"Michael Flatley has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer," the post shared the "personal" news. "He has undergone surgery and is in the care of an excellent team of doctors. No further comments will be made at this time. We ask only for your prayers and well wishes. Thank you."

It also uploaded a black-and-white photo of the dancer standing on a seashore.

The 64-year-old immediately received messages of love and support from his colleagues, friends, and fans through the post. They also took to Twitter to send him well-wishes amid his health battle.

Michael Flatley's Previous Cancer Battle

The "Riverdance" legend has already won over cancer once. Before his recent diagnosis, he revealed that he already beat malignant melanoma in 2003.

At that time, he credited a fan who saw the early signs of the dreaded illness on his body.

As shared by Independent.ie, Flatley revealed the details of his health issue for the first time when he also agreed to become the ambassador for Breakthrough Cancer Research (BCR). Per the dancer, an MTV viewer in the US watched the "Lord of the Dance" in Las Vegas' fifth anniversary.

During his interview with MTV at that time, someone asked his personal assistant about the brown spot on his face - which he had never noticed.

"They advised me to go and have it looked at," he recalled. "I did and the doctor took a sample of it there and then. I was flying to Barbados the next day, and he gave me a call and asked me to come and see him."

Although he wanted to leave, his doctor urged him to come in immediately because of the result. Fortunately, he was diagnosed with it a little earlier as his doctor said he could have done nothing for him if he had let it go a few more weeks.

From there, Flatley underwent treatment and suffered no side effects. He made his experience a lesson and reminded everyone to take care of such things immediately.
