Lisa Marie Presley, who received the majority of her father Elvis Presley's $100 million inheritance, couldn't be saved by wealth or fame.
On Thursday, paramedics performed CPR on the late King of Rock and Roll's daughter and transported her to the hospital after receiving a report about a probable heart arrest at her home.
After taking Lisa Marie to the hospital, the paramedics apparently restored her pulse, and she was reportedly receiving care, according to TMZ.
Hours later, however, her mother, Priscilla Presley, broke the news in a tearful statement that her daughter had passed away.
Elvis and Priscilla's only child passed away at the age of 54.
People who knew Lisa Marie Presley say that despite several attempts to battle the evils of addiction, she was a woman bound by her birthright.
The New York Post claims that Lisa Marie's major life trauma began with the 1977 passing of her father, who also passed away from a cardiac problem. She discovered her father in Graceland when she was just nine years old.
Soon after Elvis Presley passed away, Lisa Marie Presley was assigned to receive counseling from Karen de la Carriere, a former senior Scientologist. Due to the trauma she experienced following Elvis Presley's passing, the famous daughter later "drowned herself in narcotics for years."
Karen told The Post, "Lisa Marie had such a tough life. Broken marriages, corrupt money managers who ripped off a lot of her fortune at Elvis Presley Enterprises."
Lisa, who acknowledged being a "deep, dark kid," also had to deal with bereavement at an early age.
She stated she went into "destructo mode" after experiencing the anguish, disclosed in a 2003 interview with Newsweek.
As an adolescent, Lisa Marie also experienced difficulties. From the age of 13 till the age of 17, she used drugs and rebelled against her mother.
Anything my mother didn't want me to do, she stated in a subsequent 2003 interview with Playboy. whatever I could get my hands on, including smoking, drinking, using drugs, and guys. For around three years, I was doing drugs.
After abusing drugs and alcohol, her mother sent her to a Scientology center. Later, Lisa Marie attributed her success in overcoming her drug issues to the divisive faith.
"Some folks want to go to a therapist and tell them everything," Karen continued. Lisa Marie chose not to. She has no interest in counseling or therapy. However, she had to see Scientology.
Lisa had experienced four failed marriages, and who could forget that in 2020, her son Benjamin committed suicide, turning her into a grieving hermit at her house in Calabasas.
