The Met Gala, the iconic annual event held at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, is just around the corner, and here are all the juicy details there is to know about it.
Vogue finally unveiled the Met Gala 2023 co-chairs who will accompany Anna Wintour-pop superstar, Dua Lipa, actress, Penelope Cruz, swimmer, Michaela Coel, and tennis icon, Roger Federer.
The event benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, which is largely why this highly-anticipated event's red carpet is graced by some of the world's biggest designers accompanied by fabulous celebrities sporting their latest creations.
According to reports, the 2023 Met Gala will take place in, well, the Met, on May 1, which also happens to be the first Monday in May, as per usual of the event.
This year's theme is titled "Karl Lagerfeld" A Line of Beauty," which aims to pay tribute to the German designer, and include about 150 pieces from his collections that span across the decades.
The announcement of the theme was done several months ago, in advance. "Paying tribute to Mr. Lagerfeld is not solely a task for the museum's curators: the 2023 dress code is 'In honor of Karl.'"
Last year's Met Gala theme was "In America: An Anthology of Fashion," and it was also co-chaired by some of the world's biggest stars like Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Winning Streak
This will be Lipa's first time co-chairing the world-renown event, but this is definitely not her first time stepping on the famous red-carpeted steps of the Met.
Billboard reported that Lipa was first invited to the event in 2019, where she sported a stunning multi-colored Versace dress. The theme for the year was "Camp: Notes on Fashion."
Aside from this new badge of honor, Lipa enjoyed several honors and accolades a few months back.
According to Page Six, Lipa celebrated being granted Albanian citizenship by building a multi-million dollar mansion in the country.
The massive property is located in a coastal city and will boast impressive views of the Ionian Sea.
The Grammy Award-winner believes that she is Albanian in her heart, and said about the new exciting development in her life: "I wouldn't change it for the world because it really helped me become who I am."
Aside from her flourishing career and personal life, her love life is also in full swing. She was reported to be in a relationship with fellow musician Jack Harlow just last month.
