Although a new Fall Out Boy era is about to dawn, it is also a sad day for its longtime fans as one of its founding members; guitarist Joe Trohman has stepped away from the band.
On the same day, the rock band announced their upcoming new album, "So Much (For) Stardust," Trohman announced that he would be leaving.
In a lengthy note, he posted via the band's official Instagram account, Trohman revealed that his health has "rapidly deteriorated over the past several years."
"So, to avoid fading away and never returning, I will be taking a break from work which regrettably includes stepping away from Fall Out Boy for a spell," he continued. "It pains me to make this decision, especially when we are releasing a new album that fills me with great pride (the sin I'm most proud of)," Trohman's note continued.
Because of this, questions about his membership in the band have been up in the air, many wondering if he would ever return. But at the latter part of the note, with finality, Trohman addressed it.
"So, the question remains: Will I return to the fold? Absolutely, one-hundred percent. In the meantime, I must recover which means putting myself and my mental health first. Thank you to everyone, including my bandmates and family, for understanding and respecting this difficult, but necessary, decision," he furthered.
Meanwhile, fans of the guitarist have taken to the comments, reaffirming their everlasting support.
"Take all the time you need Joe! We'll be waiting for you, as long as it takes! Love you so much and wishing you good health," a fan shared.
"Much love Joe. You killed it on the new song and I have a feeling we have you to thank for the return to guitar driven horizons. Wishing you the best in your mental health journey," another commented.
"Joe, you deserve incredible comfort. Thank you for being such a great inspiration for so long, and I hope you come back with renewed energy. I'll make sure I'm in the front row to welcome you back. Much love, roll on," someone gushed.
As of this writing, the band has not yet revealed who will replace Joe Trohman in the band for meantime. Although Trohman's return was never specified, he might return back to the band when they decide to go back on tour, probably at the end of the year or by next year.
But as for the next performances of the band, they might be onboarding someone to substitute Trohman at the upcoming Jimmy Kimmel performance they are scheduled for next Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023.
