The death of Folk musician David Crosby has shocked the music world terribly.
Crosby, 81, passed away yesterday, Jan. 20, 2023, after a long illness. According to Rolling Stone, Crosby's actual cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Tributes for David Crosby have poured out on social media, remembering the legacy and the music that he has brought to people throughout the decades.
Melissa Etheridge, a close friend and the biological father of one of his sons, penned a heartfelt tribute to the iconic musician.
"I am grieving the loss of my friend, and Bailey's and Beckett's biological father, David. He gave me the gift of family. I will forever be grateful to him, Django, and Jan. His music and legacy will inspire many generations to come. A true treasure," she said in an Instagram post.
Meanwhile, Graham Nash, ⅓ of the Crosby, Stills, and Nash, remembered the icon with his kind words:
"I know people tend to focus on how volatile our relationship has been at times, but what has always mattered to David and me more than anything was the pure joy of the music we created together, the sound we discovered with one another, and the deep friendship we shared over all these many long years," he wrote. "David was fearless in life and in music. He leaves behind a tremendous void as far as sheer personality and talent in this world."
All of social media has been mourning the loss of the jazz and folk musician. Many have taken the time to revisit his old performances. But perhaps one of the most shared online is David Crosby's final performance before his death.
Apparently, David Crosby's last performance was in 2019, when she joined Michelle Wilis at a recording of her very own EP, "Just One Voice." According to NME, the performance was held in Ontario, Canada, last Oct. 5, 2019.
The two performed the icon's "Janet" and "Glory," which came from his 2018 album "Here Is You Listen." They also jammed on Willis' original composition, "Trigger," and Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock."

David Crosby's death was announced via Variety, saying that he passed away while being surrounded by his wife, Jan, and son, Django.
"Although he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us. His legacy will continue to live on through his legendary music," the statement read.
