Pink Floyd released "The Dark Side of the Moon" in 1973, and they're going to celebrate its 50th anniversary by releasing a new deluxe box set.

The band announced the exciting news through social media with the tagline, "50 years in a heartbeat."

To give the album a fresh look, the iconic prism logo-which shows a beam of white light entering the prism on the left and on the other side is a rainbow-has been redesigned.

The new logo still features a prism, but a "50" is located in the middle, and the rainbow is now located inside the zero.

However, according to reports, some fans are not happy with the new album art cover, and made sure that the band was made aware.

"After seeing this logo I will not buy the reissue," wrote a netizen.

"Good job Pink. You just lost another fan. I have been listening to this album for the past 50 years since I picked it up at my local record store for 50 cents. I just happened to never look at the album cover," another added.

"This is basically a compilation of previous re-edits. The album is legendary, a milestone, influential beyond belief, but this anniversary edition is a lost opportunity," a Twitter user wrote.

On the other hand, despite the flak the new logo drew in, steadfast Pink Floyd fans defended the new design choice.

"Creating things to be mad about," a Twitter user wrote.

"So they aren't fans of the music then, ok," another added.

"Literally no one who is a Pink Floyd fan has ever said this. The triangle and rainbow have been part of it since always."

The Prism

Just as a fan pointed out, Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" always had a prism and rainbow on its cover.

It was designed by the band's frequent collaborator, Storm Thorgerson, who has also worked on several other album cover designs for them.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, he explained the story behind the iconic logo: "They hadn't really celebrated their light show. That was one thing. The other thing was the triangle. I think the triangle, which is a symbol of thought and ambition, was very much a subject of Roger [Waters]' lyrics.

"So the triangle was a very a useful - as we know, obviously - was a very useful icon to deploy and making it into the prism - you know, the prism belonged to the Floyd."

The new logo drama aside, the reissued deluxe version of the album with include a CD, gatefold vinyl version, as well as a Dolby Atmos Mix and the original 5.1 and hi-res stereo, reports say.

As of this writing, fans can pre-order the anniversary edition of the album through Amazon.
