Miley Cyrus entered a new era in her career, and everyone is loving it-after all, it was thanks to her sneakiness that she is now back on top of the music charts.
The "Wrecking Ball" singer dropped "Flowers" last Jan. 13, which also happens to be the birthday of her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth. This move along has spurred fans into overdrive, churning out as many theories as they could.
Some are, like most fan theories, quite out there, however, some are more believable and popular than others, including the most obvious one: Is "Flowers" about Hemsworth?
Fan Theories
While Cyrus herself is yet to address the rumors, her older sister, Brandi, definitely had something to say about the entire fiasco.
"It's so entertaining," she told Us Weekly. "The song did come out on his birthday - was that on purpose? I don't know, can't say. Genius though."
Looks like the Cyrus family isn't about to let up on anybody's secrets this time, because that's all the older Cyrus sister had to say about the matter.
After its release, "Flowers" became a sensation on TikTok, and was instantly included in thousands of girl anthems playlists.
"The fans - I love Miley fans so much, they go hard in the paint," she continued, "The fans on TikTok just keep creating narrative after narrative and it is so funny.
"It makes Miley seem like an absolute genius, and it's just too good. Every day I wake up to a new one."
Another favorite and famous fan theory that Brandi touched on during her interview were that of "Flowers" an interpolation of Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man," which allegedly was the song Hemsworth dedicated to Cyrus during their wedding.
Fans lined up the lyrics of the songs side-by-side. As Mars crooned: "I should have bought you flowers," Cyrus sang: " "I can buy myself flowers."
The rest of Mars' chorus goes likes this: "Should have gave you all my hours, When I had the chance / Take you to every party 'cause all you wanted to do was dance / Now my baby's dancing, But she's dancing with another man."
While Cyrus' song goes like this: "Talk to myself for hours / Say things you don't understand / I can take myself dancing / And I can hold my own hand / Yeah, I can love me better than you can."
Other fan theories also include the gold dress Cyrus wore during the music video, which fans pointed out, looks a lot like the dress Jennifer Lawrence wore to the premiere of the first "Hunger Games" movie, a book-to-movie adaptation Hemsworth starred in.
There are tons more, but neither the Cyrus sister confirmed nor denied anything. However, Brandi did tell fans to keep them coming.
"The narratives are f**king hilarious, but it's so great. The best PR that could ever happen because it gets people talking about the song on TikTok and it's everywhere. And it's just so fun to watch it all play out. Miley fans, I love ya."
"I'm not here to say that's true and what's not true. Only Miley knows the truth," she concluded.
