Luke Bryan has received a mountain of backlash on TikTok after seemingly shading Dustin Lynch as he introduced him at a music festival in Mexico.
During the Crash My Playa 2023 in Mexico last Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, Bryan asked the crowd to welcome his friend, country musician Dustin Lynch as he was the one scheduled to take the stage next.
However, many pointed out that his introduction was made in poor taste and was "uncalled for" - something that Bryan has described before after vocally supporting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
"No one has drank more liquor, no one has vomited more, no one has taken more drugs, no one has taken more IVs, no one has passed more STD tests than this next gentleman," he said during the introduction.
Lynch eventually took the stage but did not respond to any of Bryan's statements.
@country_musicfan23 What Luke Bryan said about Dustin Lynch is absolutely uncalled for! Nobody deserves an introduction to stage like Luke did to Dustin. #dobetter #countrymusic #cmp23 #crashmyplaya #crashmyplaya2023 #lukebryan #dustinlynch #dustinlynchmusic #isaidwhatisaid #GenshinImpact34 #fyp #foryoupage #foryou #viral #viraltiktok ♬ original sound - Country Music Fan
The video, now making rounds on TikTok, had many netizens expressing their displeasure on Bryan's statements.
"What Luke Bryan said about Dustin Lynch is absolutely uncalled for! Nobody deserves an introduction to stage like Luke did to Dustin," the original poster said.
Luke Bryan's gotta be seething because he's not the top dog in the country. His music is CORNY. HE'S a dead ass BUG on Dustin Lynch's windshield," another reacted.
"Exactly why I can't stand Luke Bryan as an artist! The older he gets what comes out of his mouth is disgusting! The first concert I went to of his was the worst concert I've ever been to out of 3 hours of music he sang less than 30 min. He had all these other artists take up the time! Never again!!" a user commented.
But despite the flak that Bryan has received, many have pointed out that the Luke Bryan and Dustin Lynch drama is "nothing" and the introduction was a joke as the two are close friends.
Eventually, Bryan took to Instagram and broke his silence, reassuring fans that the two of them had already talked about it.
"Dustin Lynch is one of my dearest friends on the planet. No one respects him more than I do. And that night at Playa. my introduction of him was complete sarcasm. Those words that I used were so absurd, I figured everybody would take it as sarcasm," he clarified.
According to Bryan, he has already hashed out the controversy with Lynch and apologized to anybody that did not understand his humor and sarcasm.
