Madonna was supposed to direct and write a biopic. It was first given the green light in 2020.
But according to Variety, the project is no longer in development at Universal Studios.
Following the music legend's last-week announcement of a world tour, which quickly sold out in London, Paris, New York, and other places, rumors about the movie's future began to circulate.
The biography was shelved, according to sources who spoke to the site, since she is now solely focused on her tour, but she is still devoted to one day releasing a film about her life.
However, there is a valid explanation why the project was shelved by the studio officials.
Despite the fact that the cancellation was recently disclosed soon after Madonna's significant global tour, the biography was reportedly believed to have been shelved earlier, according to The Sun.
The mother of six's contentious and odd social media remarks, however, allegedly had Universal executives "scratching their heads."
The "Like A Virgin" singer's insistence on maintaining virtually all control of the alleged biography proved to be a bridge too far and ultimately killed it, a source told the publication.
The 64-year-old did herself no favors, they claimed, by behaving strangely on her social media accounts during the entire process, per The Sun.
According to reports, Madonna signed a deal to star in the film, which ought to have served as a cue to end her circus antics. She should have quit seeking likes, the source continued, and instead focused on polishing the film.
While Universal wasn't laughing when they saw her amusing Instagram pictures, they are usually so entertaining for her followers.
"The studio bosses were watching what Madonna posted over these months where she was supposed to be writing and were left scratching their heads."

Madonna's Bizarre and Confusing Instagram Posts
Recent social media issues involved Madonna releasing a sexy video of herself in underwear next to a sweet photo of her four youngest children on Christmas.
One critic said the image disturbed them once her followers saw the photos.
Fans previously felt perplexed when she released a video brandishing a riding crop while sporting a black lace balaclava.
The "Vogue" singer, however, shocked fans last month after releasing a video of herself slurping water from a dog bowlwhile posing suggestively with bottles of mustard and sriracha.
