Shania Twain is one of the biggest voices in the music industry. That is why many are celebrating her triumphant return to the industry, starting with her role as Mrs. Potts on the 30th Anniversary Celebration of "Beauty and the Beast."
However, in a recent interview, Twain recalled a particularly grim moment of her life which included her being lifted in an aircraft.
Speaking to The Mirror, Twain painstakingly remembered her serious COVID-19 battle years ago.
"It was progressively getting worse. My vital signs were getting worse... and in the end I had to be air evacuated," she told the outlet after recalling how she was being transported via a helicopter.
Twain was diagnosed with COVID-19 pneumonia during the heap of the virus in 2020-2021. She was staying with her husband in Lake Geneva in Switzerland during the said period, Billboard reports.
According to the "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" hitmaker, she felt like she was in a science fiction tale, likening the unlikely medical emergency trip to going to another planet. She noted that thanks to the help of her husband, Frédéric Thiébaud, who was a Nestle top boss based in Switzerland, she had someone to confide with and share the rather scary health ordeal during those times.
"My husband was freaking out, to be honest. He was really panicking because he was the one having to pull it all together," she recalled. "He spent hours and hours every day on the phone, trying to get an air evacuation coordinated, trying to get a bed lined up, as there were none, checking my vital signs. It was just a real nightmare for him."
