Many fans are patiently waiting for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to release its annual class of nominees which will be revealed in a few days, but it appears that there will be a big change regarding the inductees as the association recently made a significant move; was it because of Dolly Parton?

According to Vulture, the Rock Hall revised its mission statement to further give the public an idea of what rock music really is. President and CEO issued spoke during a recent press conference, saying they will be changing the requirements for induction along with the representation at their museum.

The reason behind it is rock and roll's origins as he noted that the genre has roots in rhythm and blues, gospel, and country and that it's ever-evolving through the years for it to be inclusive.

Their new mission statement now "celebrates the sound of youth culture and honors the artists whose music connects us all."

The outlet noted that the recent move is similar to the statement they released last year when Dolly Parton initially declined to be inducted into the Rock Hall as she believed that she doesn't fit into the rock genre.

"Dolly Parton's music impacted a generation of young fans and influenced countless artists that followed. Her nomination to be considered for induction into to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame followed the same process as all other artists who have been considered," the association said last year.

The country musician eventually accepted the honor and attended the event where she announced an upcoming rock and roll album in collaboration with many artists from the said genre.

Loudwire reported that many have been speculating that the Rock Hall will be open to other genres in the future outside the country, rhythm and blues, and gospel, but they have not confirmed whether it's true.

Even though the association has already made the big change and appeared to be heading toward a new direction, not all fans were pleased with their decision.

"Given the stupid new mission statement, it isn't going the be rock and roll performers chosen. It's time to change the name of this joke business. No other Hall of Fame business is scorned like this one," one reacted.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will announce its nominees this Wednesday, February 1, 2023, while the official inductees will be unveiled in May.
