Ozzy Osbourne announced his touring days are officially over, but the public seemingly saw it coming as he looked unrecognizable in the days leading to his decision.
The 74-year-old Prince of Darkness shared one of the hardest things he had ever shared with his fans when he posted a lengthy statement on his social media accounts. He confirmed that, amid his health battles, his touring days were finally over.
"My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage," he explained. "My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and most recently groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak."
While this shocked his fans, some of them prepared themselves before the announcement as Osbourne reportedly showed "signs" he would no longer tour again.
Ozzy Osbourne's Retirement a Long Time Coming?
On Thursday - nearly a week before he confirmed his retirement - Ozzy Osbourne's health seemingly deteriorated even more as he was seen looking unrecognizable and frail with his friend.
The Black Sabbath rocker visited a fitness class in Los Angeles after starring in a new Super Bowl LVII commercial. He played the role of a co-worker from hell in the project.
Daily Mail shared photos of Osbourne as he linked his arms with his companion as he made his way to the class. His body also looked wobbly while walking toward his car.
In December, he expressed his desire to return to the stage and bang his head again amid his recuperation. However, he also spoke candidly about how his issues with walking affected his plans.
"My head is alright, my creativity is OK, my singing's OK but I just can't f**king walk much now. I can't tell you how f**king frustrating life has become... I've never been this ill this long in my life," he said in one of the episodes of his SiriusXM radio program.
Ozzy Osbourne's health issues have constantly been affecting his schedule in the past years. The musician notably underwent surgery in 2022 to realign the pins in his back and neck following the 2003 incident that left him with a broken vertebra. He once told Forbes that the injury caused him to tour again before the lockdown started.
He also suffers from Parkinson's disease following his previous Parkinsonian syndrome diagnosis.
