2023 Best Country Solo Performance Grammy Nomination

Kelsea Ballerini's 2022 hit song, "Heartfirst", is nominated at the 65th annual Grammy awards. This isn't the first time Ballerini is nominated for a Grammy. She previously got Grammy nods in the 61st Grammy awards for Best Country Album-"Unapologetically", and the 59th Grammy awards for Best New Artist-"Peter Pan."

The Making of 'Heartfirst'

Ballerini co-wrote "Heartfirst" with Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild and songwriter, Alysa Vanderheym in July 2021, according to an article published on Billboard. The collaborative creation of the song took place in Vanderheym's home studio in the Nashville neighborhood. The three of them wanted to create an upbeat Fleetwood Mac type of song.

Ballerini, Fairchild, and Vanderheym eventually came up with the concept for the song centering around "jumping and following your heart when it comes to relationships, and taking risk."

Black River Entertainment reportedly released "Heartfirst" to country radio via Play MPE on April 7, 2022. The song debuted at number 24 at the country airplay chart by April 16. "Heartfirst" reached the number 37 spot on the fifth week.
