The entirety of Juice WRLD's discography was auctioned off in the first few months of 2022, resulting in a nine-figure gain for his estate.
According to Billboard, the independent record label and publisher Opus Magic Group now controls 90% of the publication rights and the rights to 90% of the revenue from the master recordings of the Chicago rapper.
Juice WRLD, whose true name was Jarad A. Higgins, passed away in December 2019, startling the hip-hop scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner disclosed a month later that the cause of his death was an accident. He overdosed on oxycodone and codeine accidentally, which is how he passed away.
On December 8, 2019, the rapper experienced a seizure immediately after landing at Midway International Airport. He was soon taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead a few hours later.
The transaction of Juice WRLD's estate included not only the enormous output the rapper has previously given to his millions of followers but also two albums while living and two posthumous albums, a joint mixtape project, a solo mixtape, nine EPS, and hundreds of unreleased tracks.
The masters of Juice WRLD remained the property of his label partners Interscope Records and Grade A Productions.
The transaction has not been discussed by the rapper's or Opus Music Group reps. However, the latter did provide Billboard with a statement in which it said, "To represent the body of work of Juice WRLD - whose cultural significance and generational influence can't be overstated - is an honor and a responsibility."
Juice WRLD 3rd Posthumous Album
Before his untimely passing, Juice WRLD put out two albums: "Goodbye & Good Riddance" in 2018 and "Death Race to Love" in 2019.
Two posthumous albums, "Legends Never Die" and "Fighting Demons," have been made available since his passing.
But Lil Bibby recently revealed that a final Juice WRLD record is in the works, two years after the latter's release.
Lil Bibby, the CEO and creator of Grade A Productions, the company Juice WRLD was signed to in collaboration with Interscope Records, said on his Instagram account on Saturday that he is now working on the rapper's last posthumous album.
Lil Bibby said in the caption that they wanted the record to seem like a party or celebration of the late rapper's life.
"No more mourning, I want everyone that Juice loved while he was here to help celebrate, especially his fans who he loved! You guys have been the best fans an artist can have."
They further said, "I'm not gonna complain but i'll jus say this is not easy. We miss you, We love you 999 til the world ends."
