Madonna's Grammy Awards appearance has sparked controversy and backlash again following the debut of her "plastic face" on live television.
Fans and detractors of the Queen of Pop have been very vocal about their support and hate toward Madonna's "plastic face," with many divided on how they would perceive the drastic change that the singer has undergone in the past few years.
Madonna's Grammy Awards appearance has had many calling her "unrecognizable" because of the cosmetic procedure she has done to maintain the youthful glow on her face.
Madonna, 54, has presented the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category, which eventually went to Sam Smith and Kim Petras' "Unholy." It was quite fitting and historic that Madonna, who was a fierce advocate for the LGBTQ community, was awarded the Grammy for the first openly transgender woman - Kim Petras.
Petras thanked Madonna and Sophie in her moving speech.
Meanwhile, as for Madonna, she took to Instagram to address how the media took the time to report more on her "plastic face" rather than the historic win for the LGBTQ community that she has presented.
"Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim," she wrote. "Many people chose to only talk about Close-up photos of me Taken with a long lens camera By a press photographer that Would distort anyone's face!!"
To date, the post, containing videos and photos of her along with Petras and Smith, has amassed more than 440,000 likes and almost 17,000 comments both supporting (and hating) Madonna's Grammy Awards 2023 appearance.
According to Madonna, she was "caught in the glare" of ageism and misogyny that is thriving in the world right now. She also pointed out that society "refuses" to celebrate women past the age of 45 like her, as she felt that she was being continuously punished for her "creative choices."
Quoting Beyonce in her message, Madonna is unfazed by the criticism, saying that she's happy trailblazing for the women behind her and that no one could "break my soul."
Fans took to the comment section to express their love for Madonna.
"What an honor and a blessing it is to be in your presence. You are such a force and I have so much love and respect for you," American producer Honey Dijon commented.
"Love you Queen," Paris Hilton said.
Meanwhile, many have questioned Madonna's thoughts, pointing out why she was ashamed of aging naturally.
"The issue isn't the press or media. It's that You refuse to allow yourself to Age gracefully. Whatever that looks like And for the platform You Do and have had it's pretty disappointing for those of us girls who watched you be a power for woman now that We're aging you present a false and altered version of Who You are," someone shared.
"If you are afraid of ageism Madonna why are you getting so much work to look like you are 25 years old?" another asked.
