Social media users are discussing Lady Gaga's controversial SXSW 2014 performance with Sam Smith and Kim Petras' alleged "satanic" performance at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

Both performances are being compared and condemned for their disturbing acts.

Online videos of Lady Gaga's performance have gone viral, showing Millie Brown, a performance artist, sticking her fingers down her throat and spitting up a green liquid across the singer's breasts.

Recently, the clip went viral again after podcaster Elijah Schaffer tweeted, "Why are we not talking about Lady GaGa having a young girl vomit on her chest during a performance?"

The singer-actress, 36, choreographed her "Swine" performance for the Austin festival with Millie in mind.

Following a horrible robotic pig ride with Millie, Lady Gaga proceeded to perform without pausing.

After watching the footage, internet people said, "This is nasty. And certainly not in a positive way.

Societal degradation was another's comment, and 'Wow very profound, so creative' said another. These folks must be removed.

However, Millie Brown said in 2014 that Lady Gaga valued her performances.

"She appreciates performance art. So doing that stuff live with her, with that kind of energy from the crowd, was really amazing. It worked really amazingly with that song and the idea of purging all that bad energy and getting rid of it."

Millie and the "A Star Is Born" actress at the time faced a lot of criticism, with Demi Lovato even commenting that it was unfortunate that what they were doing couldn't be deemed "cool."

However, in response, Millie claimed on Vice that nothing was being glamorized.

"All of my performances are meant to inspire viewers to question the concept of classic beauty and femininity, rather than perpetuate those standards girls and women are faced with every day; the ones that cause eating disorders in the first place."

Sam Smith and Kim Petras' performance, meanwhile, caused controversy because of its depiction of the devil.

He was seen emerging from a group of dancers, but the transgender icon performed within a cage. The entire show was colored crimson.

The British vocalist sang while wearing chains, whips, and demon horns. Even his wearing of a Satanic horn helmet caused controversy, and several of the dancers were accused of portraying demons in such a way.

However, social media suddenly finds itself comparing the performances of Sam Smith and Lady Gaga.

"From Sam Smith to Lady Gaga, how much lower can we go? ", yelled an irate Twitter user.

"The connection between Lady Gaga, Sam Smith, and Madonna," according to another social media user, "is that they are all attention-seekers who have failed in the past.

"If they ever had any skill at all at the beginning of their careers, it's long since vanished. Everything shouts, 'Look at me, I did something crazy.' Best avoided."
