SZA is holding onto her eighth nonconsecutive week at the top of the Billboard 200 charts, thanks to her sophomore project, "SOS."
"SOS," which was released last December 2022, was one of the most highly-anticipated album releases of last year. The last time that SZA released an album was in 2016, her debut project, "Ctrl."
Throughout the years, the R&B singer has teased several of her tracks, including, "Shirt." A few of its singles were also released prior to the "SOS" album release - "I Hate U," "Good Days," and "Kill Bill."
According to Luminate, SZA scored 100,000 album equivalent units this week with 99,000 of it comprising streaming equivalent units. It is also translated to 135.4 million on-demand official streams in its eighth week. Meanwhile, 500 units are attributed to last week's album sales and track equivalent units.
Per Billboard, the last woman to achieve this feat was Mariah Carey in the late part of 1993 and the early months of 1994 with her album "Music Box." Her album spent nonconsecutive weeks atop the charts back then.
SZA's incredible eighth week became one of the longest R&B albums by any act since equalling Usher's "Confessions" in 2004.
