Elvis Presley and The Beatles are the best-selling music artists of all time, and on August 27, 1965, the five men hung out together. But news had it now that the Fab Four did not even enjoy the night with their ultimate idol. Instead, they went home quite disillusioned.

At approximately 10 p.m., the Fab Four arrived at The King's Los Angeles residence on Perugia Way in Bel Air, where the extraordinary encounter took place. Elvis' Memphis Mafia excitedly awaited The Beatles' arrival while fans of both artists gathered at the gates.

According to Peter Guralnick's "Careless Love: The Unmaking of Elvis Presley," "The King" was not very pleased to see the Fab Four, as he sat on his L-shaped couch watching a silent television.

When John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr arrived, he did stand to meet them, despite the fact that they were speechless to be in the presence of their rock and roll idol. Elvis had to break the ice by informing them he would have to go to bed if they did not start talking to him. Not long after, The King began playing a bass wired into an amplifier behind his television and had Charlie Rich's Mohair Sam play on the jukebox.

Before Ringo began a game of pool with members of the Memphis Mafia, Elvis began playing the new hit song over and over again.

Harrison, who appeared stoned to Elvis's entourage, stepped outside to smoke a joint and discuss Hinduism with Larry Geller, The King's spiritual advisor and personal hairstylist. Moreover, Lennon and McCartney picked up guitars and began jamming with Elvis while Colonel Tom Parker and Brian Epstein gambled on a coffee table transformed into a roulette wheel.

Despite the enjoyment, The Beatles were apparently dissatisfied with the legendary Elvis biography recording, "Their response to Elvis was a prickly mix of anger and disillusion."

Following the one-time encounter with the five stars, The Beatles' publicity officer Tony Barrow stated candidly, "To be honest, I'd describe Elvis on that showing as a boring old fart. But I do know Ringo enjoyed his game of pool."

However, The Beatles had invited The King and his Memphis Mafia to their residence for the weekend.

Unfortunately, Elvis stated that he did not know his schedule and declined the following day. However, several members of the Memphis Mafia went to watch The Beatles, and John Lennon told them how much the evening meant to him and asked them to tell Elvis, "Without you, I would have been nothing."

The King was informed of this information, but he did not respond and instead smiled. Regardless of the circumstances, McCartney recalls the encounter with great love, telling the Adam Buxton podcast in 2020 that Elvis was so cool.
