In a new post on his social media accounts, Twitter, and Instagram, the "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" actor shared a video of him declaring his faith in God.

"My name is Joshua Bassett. Long story short, I grew up Christian and I ran the other way, as far as I could go, in pursuit of the 'truth'. That only ended in addiction, depression, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, et cetera. No other teacher gave me anywhere near the peace that Jesus Christ did," he said, following huge applause from the crowd. "I'm here to publicly declare him as my lord and savior."

The post has now amassed more than 270,000 likes and over 7,000 comments from his friends and followers.

On Twitter, fans have been vocal about their worry about Joshua Basset's religion expression.

"There is absolutely no issue with Joshua Bassett becoming a christian. The issue is that he chose to get baptized and attend a commercialized church that promotes and teaches anti-lgbtq+ rhetoric like this on their website," a fan said.

In June 2021, Bassett confessed that he is part of the LGBTQ community in a GQ Magazine interview.

Bassett emphasized hours later that he was "unaware of some of their policies and beliefs," and did not endorse all of them, as the thing he is focused on is getting baptized and his relationship with God.

Bethel Church offers the "CHANGED" movement, "a worldwide, grassroots network of people who have left LGBTQ behind to follow Christ wholeheartedly," a thing that some of Bassett's fans described to be a conversion therapy process and an anti-LGBTQ move.

Joshua Bassett Religion

Based on his posts, it seems like Joshua Bassett's religion is now Born-Again Christian. In his now-viral video, he also confessed that he was already a Christian growing up but left in "pursuit of the truth."

Joshua Bassett Religious Tweets

In the past few weeks and months, fans have started expressing their growing concern over Joshua Bassett's Religious tweets, as many have pointed out that it wasn't something that he would tweet at the time.

"Jesus Christ is the only way. His death and resurrection are historically documented. turn away form [sic] hate, seek forgiveness and come home to Him," he said at the time.
