Rihanna has a target release date for a new album.
After Rihanna's 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, the singer received queries and requests about a new album. Fans have not heard new music from her since she dropped her "Anti" in 2016.
The 34-year-old "Love on the Brain" singer finally gave a hint during her recent interview with British Vogue for her profile. Rihanna revealed to the publication Wednesday that she wants to release a new album this year.
Per the singer, it would be ridiculous if she is not making it this year. Still, she clarified that she does not want to pressure herself and have fun in making music and videos at her own pace.
"I realized that if I keep waiting until this feels right and perfect and better, maybe it's going to keep taking forever and maybe it'll never come out and no, I'm not down to that," she said. "I have my ideas in my head, but I can't say them out loud yet."
Rihanna revealed that she never stopped recording music. Rather, she has been contemplating about which songs are good enough to be released and given to her fans.
The "Love the Way You Lie" hitmaker's comment resonated with what an unnamed source told People after her appearance at the Super Bowl. According to the insider, her current focus is her family as she loves spending her time with her son.
The source added that, while Rihanna is passionate about creating music, she does not have major plans and does not know when she can commit to a whole new album.
Rihanna's New Album Release Date
As of press time, Rihanna herself cannot give an exact target date of release for her new album.
She also told "Good Morning America" Michael Strahan before her Super Bowl appearance that she does not have any updates on that yet. She, however, acknowledged the fact that her fans are waiting.
In a separate interview with Access Hollywood, Rihanna expressed how proud and excited she is to finally serve something she is really proud of. Although years have passed since she dropped a new album, the singer is beyond thankful for her fans who never leave her alone.
She then assured everyone that she never neglected her fans or music career, calling her work "her baby."
