Great news for old souls out there! Record Store Day has finally unveiled their lineup for this year's event which will feature exclusive vinyl releases of some of your favorite artists: check out which albums made it to the list below.
According to Billboard, Taylor Swift will make a comeback this year after successfully selling her exclusive releases in 2022. For this year's event, the pop star will drop the limited edition 2xLP vinyl record of "Folklore: The Long Pond Sudio Sessions."
On the other hand, Manchester-based rock/indie band The 1975 will release the "Live With the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra."
In a statement, frontman Matty Healy said he and his bandmates are proud to be ambassadors for this year's RSD, adding, "Independent record stores are the lifeblood of the music industry and have played a crucial role in our story so far." (via NME)
Other musicians that will participate in the event include Björk with "The Fossara Remixes," Madonna's "American Life Mixshow Mix (In Memory of Peter Rauhofer), Dolly Parton's "The Monument Singles Collection 1964-1968," Billy Joel's "Live At The Great American Music Hall - 1975," and many more.
For classic rock fans, i95 reported that there will be a vast selection of records from rock and roll artists includine Van Halen's "Live: Right Here, Right Now," which only has 7,500 copies.
Record Store Day 2023: Things to Remember
For fans who wanted to get a copy of the vinyl records mentioned above, all copies are only available at indie record stores that will participate in this year's RSD and will not be sold online.
Record Store Day 2023 will be on April 22, at selected vinyl stores across the United States.
The event's official website gave fans a disclaimer, saying all the released titles will not be available on all participating shops as the owners get to decide which titles to get.
Organizers also noted all vinyl records are limited and will only be available for a limited time, meaning exclusive copies are much harder to find once the event ends.
2023 marks the event's 16th anniversary after being founded in 2008. Despite streaming services taking over the world of music in recent years, vinyl record sales continue to impress buyers as the RIAA reported that vinyl units shipped rose to a staggering 15.7% last year.
