SZA's record-breaking album, "SOS," claims its ninth nonconsecutive week at the top of the Billboard 200 albums charts.

The album, considered one of the most-highly-anticipated projects of 2022, was SZA's sophomore project following her Grammy-nominated debut album "Ctrl" in 2016.

Fans and critics have wildly lauded SZA's music for its cohesive sound and message.

According to Billboard, SZA's "SOS" is the first album in seven years to have netted the most weeks atop the genre-blending charts. The last one who achieved the same feat was Adele's "25," which ruled the summit for ten nonconsecutive weeks from December 2015 to March 2016.

The Billboard 200 No. 1 album "SOS" has amassed 93,000 album-equivalent units in its 10th week on the chart. Ninety-two thousand of the whole number was composed of streaming equivalent units, as 500 were attributed to album sales and another 500 for track equivalent units.

The publication also noted that there have only been three albums in the past ten years that have spent a total of at least nine weeks at the Billboard 200 No. 1 spot - SZA's "SOS," Adele's "25," and Taylor Swift's "1989."

As for the last R&B/HipHop album, SZA has to beat Drake's "Views," which ruled for 13 nonconsecutive weeks. But for women, SZA holds the title for any R&B/Hiphop album by a woman and R&B album by a woman since Mariah Carey's debut project in 1991.

As for R&B domination, SZA equals Usher as the artist who has stayed at the top with an R&B album by any act since the singer's "Confessions" in 2004.

"SOS" received overwhelmingly positive acclaim from critics and music publications since it was released.

Pitchfork described the album to be "Best New Music," saying that the project "solidifies her position as a generational talent, an artist who translates her innermost feelings into indelible moments - marking it an 8.7 out of 10.

Rolling Stone, on the other hand, says "SOS" speaks like a revenge album, directed either to her opponents and rivals or anyone. They gave the album four out of five stars.

"It's the most assured SZA has ever sounded. And when she compares herself to Della Reese while solidifying her steeliness, it's clear she's cementing her status-" in case all you hoes forgot," the publication wrote.
