Kanye West is said to be preparing to face his ex-business manager after not addressing the legal issue in months.
West's ex-business manager, Thomas St. John, sparked rumors that the rapper was missing as he reportedly failed to serve him with legal documents. He said in December that he was nowhere to be found.
Although the "Jesus Is King" hitmaker finally resurfaced in January, he still had not addressed the legal issue until recently.
In the new court documents obtained by RadarOnline, it was confirmed that West hired San Diego-based law firm Weeks Nelson's Gregory N. Suhr as his new attorney. The lawyer appeared on his behalf in the case filed by St. John.
The ex-business manager sued the Yeezy mogul after he reportedly breached the contract they signed. He said West hired him in March 2022, and he was supposed to receive $300,000 per month.
"When confronted by the 18-month commitment that had just been made, Mr. West stated words to the effect of "the 18-month term was b-----t" and "You're insane for even thinking I would stick to it," St. John said.
The ex-business manager repeatedly tried to locate him, but West went missing following his antisemitic remarks in 2022.
Kanye West Deals with "Donda 2" Sample Lawsuit
Apart from his legal battle with St. John, West also began dealing with the lawsuit filed against him in June for allegedly using an unauthorized sample on his "Donda" album sequel.
U.S. District Court in New York received a complaint on June 29, in which Marshall Jefferson's publisher, Ultra International Music Publishing (UIMP), claimed that the rapper sampled Jefferson's 1986 hit "Move Your Body" on his "Flowers" song without permission.
West reportedly did not compensate the singer and publisher over the use, as well.

According to UIMP, West acknowledged the use of the "Move Your Body" sample, but he "continue[d] to willfully infringe in blatant disregard of UIMP's rights of ownership."
On the other hand, Peter Hawke signed on to help West and his team in defending the case. Originally, New York City law firm Greenberg Traurig represented him.
However, the law firm dropped him after his damaging antisemitic remarks.
Like St. John, Greenberg Traurig also tried serving West a formal document to mark the end of their professional relationship but failed as they could not also locate the rapper.
The rapper was finally served the documents on Feb. 1.
